Gh0stly Gh0sts is the world’s first completely omnichain NFT collection, which was quietly released recently. The collection contains 7,710 NFTs, which were free to mint on any Layer Zero compatible blockchain. Among them are Ethereum, Binance, Avalanche, Polygon, Arbitrum, Fantom, and Optimism.
But first, let us define Omnichain and Layer Zero.
What are Omnichain and Layer Zero?
LayerZero, an omnichain interoperability standard, was recently released by LayerZero Labs, a Canadian company. Essentially, the protocol allows dApps to easily build across multiple blockchains. At the moment, the protocol is compatible with all Ethereum Virtual Machine-compatible projects (EVM). Non-EVM chains, such as Terra, Cosmos, Hub, and others, will be enabled in the future.
Everyone is excited about the LayerZero protocol, which allows NFTs to traverse omnichain. There has been a surge in interest in recent months due to the features that omnichain NFTs provide. A project, for example, may have attributes that change depending on the chain it is on, utilities that are only available on a specific chain, and so on.
To explain how omnichain NFTs work, Gh0stly Gh0sts used the example of an NFT collector named Ligma. Let’s pretend Ligma got his NFT on Avalanche in order to save money on gas.
How Gh0stly Gh0sts Works?
Gh0stly Gh0sts is an unrestricted CC0 (creative commons zero) NFT compilation. LayerZero is the first NFT collection to be released. The project’s goal is to “clear the way for community-owned, chain-agnostic assets to emerge.”
The NFTs are distributed as below:
- ETH – 3,084
- BSC – 1,388
- AVAX – 1,387
- ARB – 617
- POLY – 616
- FTM – 385
- OPT – 233
Each NFT has a reflection of the mint chain in the background. The border, however, will change to reflect the current chain of the NFT. Gh0stly Gh0sts, like a number of other NFT initiatives, have the potential to be integrated into future blockchain games and applications.
On the other hand, the initiative has a significant advantage. Future integration will not be reliant on a single blockchain because it is an omnichain collection. Consider an Ethereum-based NFT project as an example. In the future, it will only be possible to incorporate it into Ethereum-based games/applications, not those based on other blockchains.
The Gh0stly Gh0sts NFT collection has already sold out on all chains and is becoming increasingly popular. It is one of the top ten projects on OpenSea in terms of transaction volume over the last seven days. While Ethereum has seen the most trading activity, transactions have occurred on all other LayerZero-compatible blockchains.
“Omnichain NFTs are the future,” according to Gh0stly Gh0sts. Those who fully comprehend the potential of omnichain are enthralled by the concept. As the first-ever omnichain NFT, the collection’s value will only rise, and it may even become a blue-chip collection.
