What is Axie Infinity Breeding?

Breeding is a method of creating a new Axie in Axie Infinity NFT game by producing and hatching an Egg.

Its primary goal is to generate an Axie with the desired characteristics such as cards, body parts, and class.

You can mate two Axies to produce a new offspring. Axie’s offspring arrive in the form of an egg, which develops into an adult after 5 days.

Breeding And SLP/AXS

To avoid Axie hyperinflation, there is a limit to how many times an Axie can be bred before it becomes sterile.

Depending on how many times the Axies have been bred, breeding an Axie costs AXS and some Smooth Love Potions.

Breeding has resource requirements in order to manage the Axie population.

Each Axie can only be bred a total of 7 times. Smooth Love Potions and Breeds both cost 1 AXS.

Please keep in mind that breeds require a gas fee, which varies depending on how much you use the Ethereum network.

Smooth Love potions (SLP) can be obtained by playing the game in both the PvE Adventure mode and the PvP Arena mode.

Axie Infinity Breeding Cost (Updated 2022)

To begin breeding, you will need two Axies, a set amount of AXS, and a set amount of Smooth Love Potions (SLP).

You’ll need 0.5 AXS and a certain amount of Smooth Love Potions (SLP) for each breeding instance, depending on the breed count of each participating Axie.

While the required amount of AXS is constant across all breed instances, the required amount of Smooth Love Potions (SLP) is determined by the breed count of the two Axies being bred.

The more Smooth Love Potions (SLP) is required, the higher the breed count of the Axies used to breed.

Here are the Breeding Axie Costs for Each Breed Count:

The cost of breeding two Axies is determined by the breed count of both parents.

Please keep in mind that Origin and MEO Axies do not require Small Love Potions (SLP) to breed, but they are still limited to 7 breeds per character.

Small Love Potions are also tokens that can be traded on Uniswap, a decentralized exchange.

Smooth Love Potions (SLP) can be purchased and sold on the Uniswap Decentralized Exchange.

What Are Axie Genetics?

Each Axie has 18 genes with equally distributed its six body parts and a body shape.

An Axie has three genes for each part. A gene that is dominant (D), recessive (R1), or minor recessive (R2) (R2).

The dominant gene determines which body parts are physically present on the Axie.

Each gene has a chance of being passed down to offspring when they are bred:

• Dominant (D): 37.5% chance to pass this gene to offspring.
• Recessive (R1): 9.375% chance to pass this gene to offspring.
• Minor Recessive (R2): 3.125% chance to pass this gene to offspring.

What are Mutations In Axie Breeding?

Aside from the possibility of genes being passed down to offspring, each gene has the potential to mutate.

When a gene completely changes into a different random body part that was not inherited from the offspring’s parents, this is referred to as a mutation.

Each gene mutation has no effect on the likelihood of other genes mutating.

An Axie’s dominant parts cannot be mutated. It is also uncommon for non-pure Axies to mutate into 100% pure Axies.

Mutations occur with a 10% chance in the 6 recessive genes (R1) and the 6 minor recessive genes (R2).

How is Class Calculated in Axie Infinity?

For class, there are no recessive genes.

When a baby is born, he or she has a 50% chance of inheriting each of their parents’ classes.

So a Beast/Aquatic pair has a 50% chance of producing a Beast and a 50% chance of producing an Aquatic.

If both parents are in the same class, the baby will be in that class as well.

What Should I Take Care of While Breeding in Axie Infinity?

When breeding, many players aim to create powerful Axies for battle.

This entails looking for strong Defenders, Attackers, and Support Axies.

I was recently looking to breed a strong defender.

As a first step, I scoured my collection for Axies that, when bred together, had a good chance of producing an Axie that could withstand a lot of damage.

I was specifically looking for high HP Axies with cards that had high defense or self healing, as this would allow them to absorb more damage.

I decided on the two Axies mentioned above. Both Axies have a high HP stat—I consider anything above 54 to be high, and anything between 57 and 61 to be extremely high.

They both have self-healing abilities and at least three cards with defense ratings of 80 or higher.

Because one of them was a virgin and the other had only been bred once.

I was very confident that the baby would be worth more than this, so I went ahead and bred it!

• Step #1 Simply navigate to the page for one of your Axies by clicking on it in your inventory.
• Step #2 Click on “Breed”
• Step #3 Select an Axie and you are done.
